If you hear training when someone says internship and vice versa, maybe it is time for you to have a brief brush-up on how they are not the same thing.

The purpose of each

As a trainee, you ‘literally’ get trained for a particular skill by the people you are currently working for. Even after serving as a full-time employee for a company, you may go through training processes from time to time to stay updated with the latest needs of your job.

On the other hand, as an intern, you get to practically experience the set of knowledge that you’ve gained during your studies. It is like a mock job.

Full-time employment

When a company trains you for a specific skill set, it means that you are either working as a full-time employee in the company for some time now or you have been hired by it to work as one. However, as an intern, there is no such guarantee of full-time job employment after your internship is over. The company may or may not offer you a job, which you may or may not accept.

To be paid or not to be paid

While going through training, as mentioned above, you still are an employee of the company. Hence, your paycheck awaits you!

However, internships might prove to be unpaid labour sometimes.

At the end of the day, what matters is your will to learn. Be it an intern or a trainee, you are serving the purpose of gaining knowledge, and that is where the bottom line meets.
